The Institute for Educational Research (IER) is a separate institute of the University of Jyvaskyla. It is a centre for educational research and evaluation in Finland. The IER produces critical scientific knowledge about education and its foundations, but simultaneously participates, together with the Ministry of Education and the National Board of Education, decision-makers and teachers, in education development work. The challenge is to combine science and theory for the benefit of educational practice and the individual learner. The Institute has recently developed an internet-based resource centre in the field of guidance to support practitioners, researchers and students in the field of guidance. The expertise gained from this development is directly relevant to the current proposal.

The partner’s role in the project as an area co-ordinator will be to organise meetings of a working group from the guidance community with expertise in the area of equal opportunities to identify gaps, share experience, and discuss current issues. Explicit dissemination role. Raimo Vuorinen will also take responsibility for internal evaluation - working closely with the project co-ordinator and the external evaluator.
