The Institute for Employment Research (IER) at the University of Warwick is one of Europe's leading centres for research in the labour market field. The work of IER covers a wide range of research-related activities; basic and strategic research; labour market assessment and evaluation; household and employer surveys; technical assistance and consultancy; and post-graduate training and research.

IER has a substantial track record of research relating to the education and training of young people and adults, the employment of young people and adults and the transition between the two. It has also undertaken various research projects into aspects of equal opportunities (e.g. women and the labour market). The Institute has undertaken a variety of research projects in these areas for a wide variety of government agencies such as the Department for Education and Skills, Department for Work and Pensions, for the Learning and Skills Councils, the Training and Enterprise Councils, Careers Services and others. It also has considerable experience of participating in European projects (e.g. Leonardo, Socrates, ADAPT, EQUAL).
