Ways – On Career Guidance Ways
Guidance and counselling cover many different areas in helping people find directions in life. New book provides an overview of and an insight into different aspects of Nordic and in particular Danish guidance and counselling issues

How does one find ways which are equally fruitful to the individual as well as in relation to society and the labour market? Ways – On Career Guidance maps out recent developments and new concepts of Nordic guidance and current research in the area.

The contributions stretch from career guidance over supervision to philosophical counselling, thus depicting the breadth of the Nordic guidance and counselling field.

One contribution suggests rethinking the field of guidance as being more than mere interviews. Associate professor Birte Kaisers article “Changing Minds in Guidance” underlines the uniqueness of each guidance situation and she emphasises that counselling requires a whole repertoire of different methods and tools. In his article Associate professor Anders Lovén points out how guidance counsellors are often seen as being overly oriented towards information retrieval. Instead the author suggests career coaching as a helpful tool for counsellors to move forward.

Among the authors are internationally well-known scholars of the guidance field, including Dr. Peter Plant, Vice-president of the International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance (IAEVG).
