The situation in Slovekia
Dear Vasiliki,
My name is Lenka Lendvayova and I am a student concerned with such kind of matters as I am a member of a society that has to face problems that rise due to a such a conflict. Nowdays, women have to join the labour force as wages are quite low and a whole family cannot live on one single wage. The situtation in Slovekia is similar to that in Greece women that work outside of the house are also responsible for the housekeeping and childcaring which I find very unfair. Also due to this work overload many couples are dissatisfied with their lives and family cohesion is at stake.
I believe that the goverment as well as the organisations should pose family friendly schemes that will protect workers and their needs.
Lenka

How WFC could be reduced
Dear Lenka,
I would like to thank you for providing me with information regarding WFC in Slovakia. Although it has been recognised that family friendly policies should be posed nothing, really, has been done at the moment. Here are some ideas of how WFC could be reduced.
Organisational support has been recognised as playing a key role in employees' ability to balance work and family responsibilities. Organisational support could be provided through supervisory support, organisational policies as well as practices to reduce WFC such as in time demands. Supervisors' role in reducing WFC is of great importance.
Supportive supervisors should be instrumental in making organisations' work-family policies. Also, they should exhibit empathic understanding and genuine concern for the well - being of the employer and his or her family.
There also should be family supportive organisational policies such as flexitime, job sharing, and child care facilities that should be designed to help employees to make arrangements to balance their work and family responsibilities.Furthermore, organisational time demands, that refer to the duration and flexibility of work hours should be changed. Work overload that is coupled with inflexible and long work hours increases WFC.
Unfortunately, are not concerned with reducing work-family conflict whatever the effects on women's and men's psychological well being.
