Like Danish partners, we would like to translate materials that are offering an insight into the slovenian field of guidance.

Our research as well as the work of focus group was mainly focused on the following two areas:

  • key issues in the field of guidance
  • guidance for young people, which is one of the target groups most at risk in Slovenia and therefore the focus of majority of initiatives.

1. Key issues in the field of guidance in Slovenia

  • Contributions of the focus group members resulted from the discussion on the key issues described above. They offer an overview of what is happening in the field of guidance in Slovenia as seen from different perspective of guidance practitioners, school counsellors, researchers and policy makers.   • Presentation of ISIO network – Information centres for adult education, promoted by the National Centre for Adult Education. (~ 5 p.)                                        ISIO network is an example of holistic guidance for adults.
  • NEFIKS – presentation of national initiative promoting recognition of non-formally gained competences through work and/or volunteering experience for young people (~ 2 p.)
  • PUM - Project learning for young adults. (? p.) National program for young people withouth vocational qualification offering an example of holistic guidance model aimed at preventing young people from becoming socialy exclouded.  
  • OPSI - National project preventing school dropout and dealing with its consequences. Project was aimed at developing internationally comparable methodology for monitoring school dropout, monitoring and information model for young withouth vocational qualification or employment. (? p.)

  • Verša, D. (2004). Young graduates on the labour market (Research report). Ljubljana: Employment Service Slovenia. (~ 40 p.)                                     Analysis shows the problem of rapidly increasing unemployment among young university graduates in Slovenia, transfer to the labour market from their perspective as well as the labour market needs perspective and main couses of such situation.  
  • Guidance and information of young school drop-outs - research report conducted by the National Institute for Vocational Education and Training
  • Contributions from the conference on methods for prevention of school dropout in vocational education and training, held by the National Institute for Vocational Education and Training, 2004. (~ 10 p.)
  • Guidance for young people with low opportunities – presentation from the 3rd international congress of social pedagogy, 2005. (~ 2 p.)                           Findings of the development research project show what additional issues need to be addressed in implementing guidance for socialy underpriviliged youth.

  • Vocational guidance for children and youth (~ 3 p.)                                     Project aimed at integrating vocational guidance in vocational schools, supported by evaluation, introducing results and findings.  
  • Young people – development potencial of Koroška region (~ 3 p.)
  • Preventing school dropput (~ 2 p.)
  • Promotion of vocations (~ 5 p.)                                                               Summary of guidance model aimed at priparing children to make better vocational choices inclouding successful promotion of less popular vocations. Model had been piloted under Phare Mocca programe and is still being successfully implemented. In the last 6 years over 20.000 children and parents and 34 companies have been participating in the project. Model has prooved to be an important contibution to vocational guidance.        
  • VIRTUORIENTATION (~ 1p)                                                                   Leonardo da Vinci project aimed at creating interactive multimedia package, supported by ICT, for individual use as well as valuable resource centre fo guidance practitioners.

  • ICTEM – Information, Counselling, Training and Employment Method (~ ? p.)      LdV project developed a highly effective method with impressive results aimed at helping young school dropouts to reenter school or find employment.
