Project "Katra on the road across Slovenia"
Presentation of the project KATRA ON THE ROAD ACROSS SLOVENIA
WHAT IS THE PROJECT KATRA?
One of ex participants of the PUM programme has donated us his car, Renault 4 – known in Slovenia as Katra. He suggested that we change, renovate, transform it, in short – make it our. Inside the group the interest has grown, we have started to gather ideas for this project and soon we had a plan.
The car was brought into working condition, the exterior was repainted and the interior furnished. The whole project was presented in a documentary and a music background was created.
After presenting Katra at KUD, we did not park it in a garage, but instead we use it as a travelling exhibit and visit some of PUM centres across Slovenia. See timetable above.
THE GOALS OF THE PROJECT
Through cooperation in the projects, the participants have a chance to obtain experience and skills that will enable them to be successful in their continued education or in their career development. The content of this project has enabled the participants to obtain a range of functional knowledge and skills, as well as widening of general knowledge that is necessary to handle daily life situations It has definitely also created the environment for obtaining positive learning experiences. Even more important than the educational contents are factors that secure the basics for successful engagement with school situations. These are especially the motivation, creation of a life strategy, etc.
With the exhibition we are trying to display interesting products to visitors and to perhaps give some an idea on how to creatively spend free time.
REALIZATION METHODS
The methods that were used in this project are the interests and ideas of the PUM programme participants, from which we have created four project groups:
- 1. Technical and design group:
- The group has created a plan to transform both the exterior and the interior of the car. The purpose was to style the car – "Poćjupaj mi Katrco". They have made a plan of operation tasks, distributed the roles of the individuals in the group, created sketches and drawings, arranged all needed mechanical repairs, etc.
- 2. Movie and photography group:
- The group has made a plan and found the idea for the movie. Their goal was to film and edit a documentary on the Katra project and to make a music video in cooperation with the music band. At the same time they have documented the events by photography.
- 3. Music group:
- The group has studied different music styles, especially the film music and blues. The purpose was to make music for the documentary and a single for Katra. The original idea was to write a Blues for Katra, but it transformed into a rap song. The film music was created digitally and not live, as we planned. Nevertheless, they have achieved the set goals in accordance with the possibilities.
- 4. Organization and marketing group:
- The group was in charge and still takes care of time coordination of all groups, for finding donators, for organization of the presentation of the project and plans and organizes the travelling exhibition.
